REX SYSTEMS INC. IS AWARDED $5 MILLION CONTRACT TO DEVELOP ARMY’S URBAN FIRST RESPONDER COMMUNICATOR
“A contract to develop the Army’s Urban First Responder Communicator is a tremendous opportunity for RSI to demonstrate our technology integration ability”, says owner G. Rex Rathbun.
The contract award is a tremendous opportunity for RSI employees to demonstrate their technical abilities, said Rathbun. We are very grateful to the Wisconsin Congressional delegation for this opportunity to help our armed servicemen and women. Special thank you goes to Congressman Dave Obey, Seventh District, and Wisconsin Senator Herb Kohl for their efforts. "Wisconsin companies are conducting innovative, cutting-edge research and development and it's gratifying to see Rex Systems recognized for their effort. This communication technology will help protect our first responders who put themselves in harm’s way to serve their country, and there is no better investment of federal funds” Kohl said. As ranking member of House Appropriations Committee, Obey was able to ensure the R&D funds were included in the Defense Appropriations bill. “During the attacks of September 11 and later in the caves of Afghanistan we learned the hard way that communications equipment is not always reliable. There is a clear need to develop a communications system that provides robust communications links into areas where traditional radios don’t work. These federal funds will allow Rex Systems to develop, through the Urban First Responder Communicator project, a system that assures that the latest technology is in the right hands when seconds count,” said Obey.
